This research deals with the development of a guideline for parents to facilitate the adjustment process of the young child in a daycare centre . The aim of the guideline is to prepare the child for and guide him or her through this adjustment process by using play therapy methods and techniques from the gestalt approach. In order to achieve this aim, the researcher has set out a workable guideline and followed it during the empirical study.
As the basis for this research, theoretical explorations of the gestalt approach, the development stages and means of play were undertaken in order to use the findings in the implementation of the guideline.
The explanatory research method was used in this study. Suggested mediums were described and implemented· during the empirical study. A workable guideline was developed to facilitate the adjustment process' for the young .child in the daycare centre that will have practical value in play therapy.
