Social Work/Maatskaplike Werk has received generous financial support over the years. These donations subsidise the Article Processing Charges and allow for the effective and efficient running of the Journal.

Part of the issues of 2024 were sponsored by Dianne Orton to subsidise the Article Processing Charges (APCs) of authors. Dianne is an emerita teaching professor of the School of Social Work, College of Health Sciences, University of Missouri, and a PhD (Social Work) alumna of the Department of Social Work, Stellenbosch University.

Seed money was given to Social Work/Maatskaplie Werk by Dr Hermien Lambrechts, an organising secretary (director) of South Africa's first formal welfare organisation, the ACVV. This has provided continuous support for the ongoing production of the journal.
